Trademarks

Precollab names real fixtures, real truss and real file formats so you can tell which one a feature means. The names below are their owners' trademarks:

Every other product name, logo and brand shown in Precollab belongs to its owner too. Precollab is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them, and no owner of any of these marks has reviewed, approved or supplied anything here. The names are used only to identify the equipment and the formats Precollab works with.

Art-Net

Precollab sends and receives Art-Net to drive and to read real lighting. Artistic Licence publishes the specification and lets anyone use it royalty free, on the condition that a product implementing it carries this credit:

Art-Net™ Designed by and Copyright Artistic Licence Engineering Ltd

Art-Net is owned by and copyright Artistic Licence Engineering Ltd, and Art-Net™ is their trademark.

Textures

The bundled material library mirrors texture sets from Poly Haven and ambientCG, all of them released under Creative Commons CC0 1.0. CC0 asks for no credit, so this is thanks rather than a condition. Each mirrored set carries a meta.json beside its maps holding that set's license and its authors, so the per-texture attribution stays with the files.

HDRIs

The environment maps that light and surround a set are mirrored from Poly Haven, released under Creative Commons CC0 1.0. As with the textures, CC0 asks for no credit and this is thanks. Each mirrored environment carries a meta.json beside its files holding its license, its photographers and the page it came from.

Area light tables

A panel fixture's reflection is shaded with the linearly transformed cosine tables of Heitz, Dupuy, Hill and Neubelt, as fitted and shipped in the PlayCanvas engine's examples, used under the MIT License. Precollab serves them as one binary file with their values unchanged. The license asks for its notice to travel with them:

Copyright (c) 2011-2026 PlayCanvas Ltd., licensed under the MIT License.

Its full text is at github.com/playcanvas/engine.

Moon

The moon's surface in a night sky is the color map from NASA's Scientific Visualization Studio CGI Moon Kit, built from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera's images. It is in the public domain, so this is thanks rather than a condition, and NASA does not endorse Precollab.

Stars

The stars in a night sky are placed from the Yale Bright Star Catalog, 5th revised edition (Hoffleit and Warren, 1991), to magnitude 6.5, as distributed by the Strasbourg astronomical Data Center (CDS) as VizieR catalog V/50. Precollab keeps each star's position and brightness, packed into a file of its own. CDS asks for this acknowledgment:

This research has made use of the VizieR catalogue access tool, CDS, Strasbourg, France.

Typeface

The interface is set in Inter, by Rasmus Andersson, used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Precollab serves it as the subset files Fontsource builds from it, from its own domain rather than from a font service, so reading a page here tells nobody else that you did. For PDF export it also serves three static TrueType files from the Inter 4.1 release (regular, semibold and bold), and a PDF you export carries a subset of them, the characters its pages use, embedded so its labels print in the same face. The license asks for its notice to travel with the font:

Copyright 2016 The Inter Project Authors (https://github.com/rsms/inter), licensed under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1.

The license lets the font travel with software like this and forbids selling it on its own. The subsets, served or embedded, are a permitted modification and stay under the same license. Its full text ships with the app at /fonts/Inter-OFL.txt and at openfontlicense.org.

Photometrics

The catalog's photometric data is synthetic. A GDTF written by Precollab describes itself as "Generated by Precollab from the manufacturer's published DMX protocol", and a Precollab IES file says "Not a measurement" in its header: it is Precollab's own beam curve for that optic, not a goniometer report. Use the manufacturer's own file when a number has to be exact.

Color science data

Precollab measures a spectrum's color temperature, color rendering and spectral similarity with data tables published by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE), Vienna, under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International license. Each table ships as CIE published it: its format changed from CSV to JSON, its values did not. The tables, © CIE:

CIE provides the tables as is, under the license's disclaimer of warranties, and does not endorse Precollab. The license covers the tables, not Precollab, and nothing in Precollab's own terms limits the rights it gives you in them.

The Television Lighting Consistency Index (TLCI-2012) is computed by the method the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) publishes in "Method for the Assessment of the colorimetric properties of luminaires, The Television Lighting Consistency Index (TLCI-2012) & Television Luminaire Matching Factor (TLMF-2013)", EBU Tech 3355, Geneva, March 2017, with the test chart reflectivities (its Appendix 4) and the standard camera (its Appendix 5) transcribed from that document. A TLCI Precollab shows is its own computation, not a figure from the EBU or its software.
